Meet The Team: DragonFire Racing Fabrication Foreman, Zach Bredeson

March 09, 2012

Zach Bredeson, DragonFire Racing Fabricator Foreman

Just taking ownership of a name like “Zack” puts you in a category of guys who love to twist a wrench and work as part of a pit crew. Our Zack did just that before joining us at DFR as our racing fabrication foreman.

He got his start in the off-road industry when he joined a Trophy Truck Team for a race down in Baja Mexico. A Trophy Truck is a completely unlimited truck with more than 800 horses and four feet of suspension travel, says Zack. And in Baja, the pit crew experience is like NASCAR — except it takes place in the dirt. But more on that later.

Let’s meet our team’s Zack Bredeson:

DragonFire Racing: What is the best part of your job?

Zach Bredeson: Being part of creating a quality product — something that’s worth having your name on. I also like working on this team because we truly are a team and it really shows in our work.

DFR: What did you do prior to coming to work for DragonFire Racing?

Zach:  I worked in the warehouse and automotive industry for the most part, doing everything from driving a forklift to plumbing. Probably the most fun I had was as a member of a pit crew for a Trophy Truck race team. Down in Baja, we had to wait for the truck to come in and then — as quickly as we could — change tires, add fuel and repair broken parts. But since this was Baja, we had more than one pit and it was never in the same spot twice. We have to load everything up and beat the truck to the next pit stop using freeways, dirt roads or the open desert. It’s a lot o fun and a lot of work but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

DFR: Do you drive a UTV/ATV? And if so, what do you drive?

Zach:  I have a few toys I like to get out on. One of them is a Honda 250R quad and another is a Suzuki RM 125 dirt bike. I also have a pit quad that is a lot of fun to rip around on.

DFR: What is your favorite DragonFire product?

Zach:  To be honest, I love our doors . I started out on those and to see the growth and improvement in that product has been really rewarding. The Race Pace line is a close second. It’s just a cool concept being able to take a stock car, add a few things and end up with something that looks like a full-blown race car.

DFR: What are you reading and watching these days?

Zach:  I’m a big fan of UTV Offroad magazine. I really don’t watch a whole lot of TV, but when I do it’s either the History Channel or Racing on Speed.

DFR: If you could take a week off from work and ride ATVs and UTVs anywhere in the world, where would you go and who would you take with you?

Zach:  I would have to fulfill a lifelong dream of racing the Dakar Rally. The only people I could think bringing along would be my girl —  and of course my team. They are the best there is, and I would be dumb not to want them on my side.

WTG Zack! As someone who drag raced when he was younger, then got into motocross later in life, I can understand the fun you are having. I was always better at wrenching that driving or riding though! Congrats on the job. I wish we had more off road truck races on the east coast as I can see giving them a try since I have gotten too old to play the motocross game any more.
